Our Story
The Alumni Committee of the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Kentucky State University was founded in the Fall of 2005. It began with a simple but meaningful purpose: to create a welcoming space for Alumni Brothers during Homecoming Weekend.
What started as an effort to foster fellowship and reconnection quickly evolved into something much greater. Over the past two decades, the initiative has grown into a structured and mission-driven organization committed to serving undergraduate members, alumni brothers, and the broader Kentucky State University community.
The BM Alumni Blackout Party
In Fall 2016, the original vision expanded into what is now known as The BM Alumni Blackout Party. Since its inception, the event has become the signature Friday night experience of Kentucky State University’s Homecoming Weekend and is officially sanctioned by the Kentucky State University National Alumni Association.
More than a premier Homecoming event, the Blackout Party serves as a platform for alumni engagement, reconnection, and institutional support.
Blackout BM, Inc.
The continued growth of the Homecoming initiative led to the formal establishment of Blackout BM, Inc. The organization is comprised of eight dedicated committee members who serve a minimum two-year term and maintain a vested interest in the long-term advancement of Kentucky State University.
Blackout BM, Inc. was created with a clear purpose: to make direct and strategic financial investments into KSU while strengthening alumni involvement.

Over the past five years, BM Blackout, Inc. has contributed $15,000 to Kentucky State University through alumni donations and funds raised during Homecoming Weekend.
Our objective remains consistent: to address unmet needs, close critical gaps, and strengthen the University’s foundation and future.
